Energy expert Andrei Gerus stated this at a round table dedicated to the problems of the heating season, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On October 18, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a decree “On measures to stabilize the work of energy generating companies of thermal power plants. That is, it is unstable,” the expert said.
He cited an explanatory note to the order, which stated that “today the energy system of Ukraine operates in extremely difficult conditions. Due to the stoppage of coal supplies from the eastern regions, thermal power plants that operate on “A” grade coal are forced to import coal... In conditions of coal shortages, there are no real sources for covering thermal power plants for the purchase of coal and creating coal reserves sufficient to go through the autumn-winter period.”
“That is, the ministry claims that there is a shortage of money and a shortage of coal,” Gerus concluded.
