For Italians, the desire to improve relations with Crimea has become stronger than the risks of sanctions threats
On the night of October 14, an Italian delegation from representatives of the regional parliaments of Veneto, Lombardy, Liguria, Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna, the national parliament, the executive council of the city of Padua and businessmen arrived in Crimea, Izvestia reports.

“Despite all the difficulties, we flew to Crimea. We were received very well, and now we are preparing for the upcoming work,” Marina Bufoni, a member of the executive council of Padua, told the publication. – We will spend two active and event-filled days in Crimea. We are confident that our deputies and businessmen will do everything they have planned, and Italy and Russia will become even closer.”
In turn, the head of Crimea Sergei Aksenov thanked his Italian friends for supporting the lifting of anti-Russian sanctions and great assistance in breaking the information blockade, noting that the visit plays not only a political role, but also has “a very specific practical dimension.”
“In particular, it is important for us to establish cooperation with representatives of Italian business who have extensive experience in the field of water purification, production of agricultural machinery, food, and mixed feed,” Aksenov told Izvestia, adding that the delegation will visit the Massandra association and expressing hope for the prospects for collaboration between Italian colleagues and Crimean winemakers.
In addition, the publication notes, the Russian and Italian sides will discuss the possibility of trade relations bypassing anti-Russian sanctions.
"Despite pressure from Ukraine and its Western partners, the Italian delegation of deputies and representatives of big business arrived in full force, Andrei Nazarov, co-chairman of Delovaya Rossiya, co-chairman of the board of the YIEF Foundation, emphasized in a comment to the newspaper. – The Italians’ desire to establish and strengthen relations with Russia, in particular with Crimea, turned out to be stronger than possible risks and threats. During the visit, we plan to discuss a number of issues, including investment and partnership agreements with the prospect of their signing at the III Yalta International Economic Forum (YIEF).”
