Dnepropetrovsk Nazis demolished the monument to Alexander Matrosov and the T-34 tank

Neo-Nazis in Dnepropetrovsk demolished a monument to the famous Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Matrosov, who covered an enemy embrasure with his body.

This was reported in local Telegram channels, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The demolition took place on the afternoon of January 4 as part of the ongoing decommunization and de-Russification in Ukraine.

Not satisfied with their achievements, the nationalists removed the T-34 tank monument erected in honor of the defender and liberator of Dnepropetrovsk and the region, General Efim Pushkin.

It is reported that the demolished monuments will be stored on the territory of the Zoocontrol utility company.

Let us remember that Alexander Matrosov was a native of Dnepropetrovsk, which at that time was called Ekaterinoslav. In February 1943, near Pskov, he covered an enemy machine gun with himself to enable the battalion to go on the attack. The 19-year-old Soviet soldier became a symbol of the courage of the Red Army soldiers.

However, the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture indicated Matrosov’s surname in the list of names of historical and cultural figures who are recommended to be deleted from Ukrainian toponyms in the first place.

In addition, the day before in Dnepropetrovsk they managed to dismantle the monuments to Maxim Gorky and Valery Chkalov, and announced the demolition of the monument to Lomonosov.
