Dodon assures: Moldova will be able to “be friends with everyone” – both with the West and with Russia

The pro-presidential Socialist Party of Moldova is ready to form a coalition with the right-wing pro-Western bloc AKUM. If such a parliamentary majority is created, Chisinau “will be friends with everyone” - both with the West and with Russia.

“All agreements remain: with Europe, the Eurasian Economic Community, the CIS - we will be friends with everyone,” said Moldovan President Igor Dodon on the RTR Moldova TV channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

According to the head of state, the socialists categorically refuse to create a parliamentary majority with the Democratic Party of oligarch Vladimir Plahotniuc.

“The Socialist Party is officially ready to create a coalition with the right-wing bloc AKUM... The Socialists are not considering the possibility of creating a parliamentary majority with the Democratic Party.

The decision of the Republican Council today was clear and precise: either a coalition is created with the AKUM bloc, or early parliamentary elections. There is no “or,” Dodon emphasized.

At the same time, the socialists hope to find compromises with the Westerners from AKUM on the issues of revising the previously introduced mandatory quotas for the Moldovan language in the media, the status of the Russian language as a means of interethnic communication, strengthening the autonomy of pro-Russian Gagauzia, etc.

“What do the socialists propose to create a parliamentary majority, for the right bloc AKUM? There are three blocks of questions that are the beginning of negotiations, that is, without agreement on these questions there is nothing to talk about, so that it is clear.

The first block is legislative. There are six laws: on the indexation of pensions twice a year, on maternity capital, and the repeal of the billion law.

The repeal of the “audiovisual” law, which, by the way, causes big problems for both your television and right-wing televisions - it causes problems for everyone, including the right-wing ones, it’s not only for Russian TV, it causes problems for the right-wing ones too. And the Europeans were all against this law.

Next, this is a package of laws on Gagauzia; the parliament, the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia, together with the Council of Europe, and so on, worked on that package for two or three years. We traveled to all countries, saw the experience, and accepted it as a compromise. In the end, the Democrats did not want to accept it, so they passed it in a different form, and I returned these laws back to parliament. So this is the package.

And further, the law on the functioning of languages, in order to restore clarity in the legislation that the Russian language is the language of interethnic communication.

I think that the socialists are also not ready to accept the “Magnitsky law”, because it is an anti-Russian law, so these nuances, details - we need to sit down and talk.

I think that if there was a desire on the other side, the socialists are ready, you saw, they invited once, the second time - they sat down and agreed. Firstly, we hold negotiations, come to an agreement, sign all the documents, a coalition agreement,” the politician explained.
