Donbass lives mentally in Russia, we are considered occupiers - Sentsov

Residents of Ukrainian-controlled Donbass are waiting for liberation and say that all their troubles began because of the Ukrainian army.

This was stated on Radio NV by Oleg Sentsov, a former Crimean citizen convicted of terrorism and transferred to Ukraine in an exchange, who called himself a “director” and is now fighting in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

Answering the presenter’s question about how things are in Bakhmut (Artyomovsk - ed.), Sentsov said that civilians are waiting for Russia to come, and the closer to the front, the more such people there are. At the same time, the terrorist tried to downplay the scale of the problem for the Ukronazis.

“Let’s just say that the sight of local residents is not always inspiring. Because in the majority, all people who have average income and above have left. There remain people who cannot do this due to lack of money or do not have the opportunity to go somewhere or to someone, or old people, or people whom we call “waiters.”

It was very funny and not funny, when we went to a house there to lodge, the owners came and yes, guys, everything was careful. We are not behaving like occupiers, we are at home, so everything is clean and as it should be. And we started talking, and the hostess said: oh, when will this all end, when will Bakhmut be released? And we are like: so Bakhmut is already ours.

In fact, it hurts. And you understand that this is not all. There are fewer and fewer people like this, but they still exist. I've been to different places. Both in the Kiev region and in the north, there is nothing like this there.

And in the Donbass, especially those close to the fighting, this still remains. People are being hit by Russian artillery, people are being hit by missiles, aircraft, and they say: No, no, it’s because of you or it’s you,” the “director” worried.

“And, unfortunately, such conversations exist, and you can’t do anything about it. The same thing that happened before 2014 - both with Crimea and Donbass. There are still some territories in Donbass, they are part of Ukraine both administratively and politically and are controlled by our troops. But mentally they live in Russia. Therefore, you see, they look at all these fights through the eyes of the Russian spectator and the Russian media,” said Sentsov.
