“We have developed a detailed plan to prepare for the new academic year. At the moment, the main areas in which our department works have been identified. One of the main ones is the technical condition.

We need to determine which schools suffered the greatest damage and which cannot be restored at all.

According to official data, the number of damaged educational infrastructure facilities is as follows: in Donetsk alone the number of such schools is seven in the Petrovsky district, seven in the Kuibyshevsky district, and three in the Leninsky district. The damage caused to schools in the Budennovsky and Proletarsky districts is being calculated. But, in order to organize the educational process, in our opinion, up to 70% of these objects are subject to complete restoration,” said DPR Education Minister Igor Kostenoka, speaking at a meeting of the government of the proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic.

“The second direction in which we are working is methodological support. All students from 1st to 11th grade, and students of all five years, they must sit down and work with textbooks that will be finalized and adapted to today's realities. This task is very labor-intensive, but we hope that, for example, there will be no special problems with the fundamental sciences, and we will direct our main efforts to the humanities. So, I’m sure we can solve this problem,” he said.

“Another problem is the outflow of students due to shelling of the city. In this regard, every effort must be made to secure all educational institutions so that students feel safer at school than at home. And another task is to provide free meals to schoolchildren from 1st to 4th grade and children in the preferential category. We don’t have much time to solve these problems, but with proper coordination of our efforts, they will be completed and the school year will begin on time,” says the Minister of Education of the DPR.
