Belarus is acting too “cautiously” towards Russia, which was the only one to support its ally during last year’s political crisis.
Alexander Dudchak, an expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, Candidate of Economic Sciences, stated this at a press conference in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“For one beaten, they give two unbeaten. And the price of someone who has been beaten many times may decrease. Despite the fact that the West is imposing sanctions, Belarus understands that there is no more reliable partner than Russia; the Belarusian leadership is still extremely cautious. Belavia was practically grounded, but they never flew to Crimea, although they promised. Some other steps that demonstrated real integration were also not taken. Under the conditions of sanctions, one could expect some more concrete steps towards each other – not only in the sphere of economic integration, but also political,” Dudchak said.
He expressed the hope that such issues were discussed during the last meeting of the presidents of Russia and Belarus.
