Neither Washington nor Moscow intend to exchange Ukraine for Venezuela, retreating in any of these countries, just as it was when the issue concerned Syria.
Kiev political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who until recently served the administration of Petro Poroshenko, stated this on the YouTube channel “Ukrlife.tv,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“All these rumors about the fact that we talked so well on the phone... And Trump was pleased, he told Putin that “that’s it, now we will be exchanged for Venezuela or someone else”...
Let me remind you that there were exactly the same expectations and conversations regarding Syria. We were not exchanged for anyone. I can reassure you: Putin will not change.
So I’ll take the risk of making such a bold prediction: he will not exchange Venezuela for Ukraine. He wants both Venezuela and Ukraine. Therefore, there will be no exchanges.
And then, what and how to change it to? For Americans to give up their claims on Venezuela or simply hand over Ukraine to Putin with a wave of the hand means admitting their own impotence and defeat.
What about “America First” then? Then there will be serious complaints against Trump.
As far as I understand, American institutions are systemically against this, and they will do their best to block any unacceptable compromises on Ukraine,” Fesenko said.
