Ex-adviser to Putin: There will be no more gas transit through Ukraine

Ukraine needs to prepare for the fact that after the current agreement on the transit of Russian gas expires in 2024, there will be no more supplies of blue fuel from the Russian Federation.

Former economic advisor to the Russian President Andrei Illarionov, who moved to the United States, said this on the Ukraine 24 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to Illarionov, the decision on this has already been made in Russia and is not being discussed.

“The issue is closed. After 24, we must count on the fact that gas will not be supplied from Russia through the territory of Ukraine. You need to face the truth and make a decision for yourself; for Ukraine, I mean that there will be no gas from Russia after 24,” said the ex-adviser.

“And until 24, the remaining three years, gas [transit] volumes will fall, shrink and will soon reach zero. And therefore we need to build our energy policy, economic strategy, based on the fact that gas will not be supplied from Russia through Ukraine after 24,” Illarionov said.
