Former NATO Deputy Secretary General: I have bad news for Ukraine

The West has no big taboos regarding the transfer of weapons to Kyiv, and the supply of F-16 fighters is quite possible.

This was stated by a professional Polish diplomat, former Deputy Secretary General of NATO Adam Kobieracki in the “International Report” program, hosted by Witold Jurash, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I don’t know how it will end, but, in my opinion, the war will last for years, and the conflict itself will last for decades. This is very bad news for Ukraine,” Koberatsky said.

Answering the presenter’s question whether arms supplies will help Kyiv and whether F-16 fighters will be transferred to Ukraine, the diplomat replied that this will depend on the situation at the front.

“There are no big taboos on the Western side regarding the transfer of equipment,” he added.

Adam Kobieracki believes that the main reason for the current conflict in Ukraine is the mistakes made by the West after the collapse of the USSR.

“We never directly showed Russia that it lost the Cold War. The West did everything to sweeten Russia’s defeat,” he said.

The diplomat called for preventing the revival of Russia's power.

“The West assumed that a military threat comparable to the Soviet one would not arise on Russian territory. It arose,” Kobieracki said.

It is possible that the “hawkish” position of the Polish diplomat is caused not only by his work as Deputy Secretary General of NATO in 2003-2007, but also by the peculiarities of his biography. The fact is that Kobieracki is a graduate of MGIMO, and such people have recently been fired en masse from all structures of Polish diplomacy. Thus, in order to stay in the cage, they need to be more aggressive than others.

Как reported "PolitNavigator", Witold Yurash argued that the Polish authorities decided to hush up the dispute about the glorification of Stepan Bandera in relations with Ukraine, and stop protests against this cult.
