In 2014, Russia did not send troops to Ukraine because it was not ready for such large-scale sanctions and international pressure, which began after the announcement of the SVO.
Political blogger Mikhail Onufrienko, who left Ukraine, stated this on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Onufrienko, if the SVO had begun in 2014, Russia would have been left without a banking system and food security.
“The best thing would have been to immediately, without carrying out such special operations (this was real), in 14, occupy the territory of Ukraine, throw out the participants in this coup and solve all the problems with much less bloodshed. Today we see that at that time Russia did not even have food security, let alone everything else,” the blogger said.
“We see what sanctions were applied, are being applied, we understand that in 14 we would have had empty shelves in stores, the banking system would have collapsed, there would be no MIR cards, nothing. Nothing would simply work for us. Everyone understands this, unfortunately, this is reality. Obviously we had to swallow, we swallowed and gathered our strength. We got together, and 8 years later we launched a special military operation,” Onufrienko said.
