The Western allies trained and prepared nine brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces for the offensive.
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stated this following an online meeting of the Contact Group on the Defense of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
That's thousands of troops, Austin said, and the training doesn't stop there.
“The Contact Group and its members have trained thousands of Ukrainian military personnel to resist the Russian aggressor. Today we intend to do even more to help Ukraine defend its freedom,” the Pentagon chief said.
“We have provided training to nine brigades, trained nine motorized rifle mechanized brigades and continue to train Ukrainian units. This is not nonsense, we will continue to work in this direction, to provide additional opportunities,” Austin said.
