“This is worse than Novichok” - Poroshenko went to war against the main mouthpiece of Britain
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko filed a lawsuit against the British broadcasting corporation BBC.
This was reported by the British edition of The Daily Telegraph, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The reason for the lawsuit was information previously released by the BBC, according to which Poroshenko paid lobbyists $400 to organize a meeting with US President Donald Trump.
Poroshenko’s lawyers say that such information “is not true and is a blow to his dignity.” In addition, according to representatives of the Ukrainian president, the publication “damaged Poroshenko’s reputation, which is especially dangerous since he is actively promoting anti-corruption measures in Ukraine.”
The attempt to present Poroshenko as a fighter against corruption caused caustic comments in Ukrainian politics.
“The lawsuit states that the plot dealt a heavy blow to the reputation of the president, who is actively promoting an anti-corruption campaign in Ukraine. If the journalists of the British channel are at least generally familiar with the corrupt reputation of our guarantor and his entourage, this lawsuit may have a worse effect than “Novichok” - they will no longer be pumped out of laughter,” writes Odessa politician, ex-candidate for mayor of Odessa Vyacheslav in his blog Azarov.
Earlier it was reported that the appointment of Kurt Volker as the representative of the US State Department for Ukraine was pushed through by the lobbying company BGR, whose services were actively used by President Petro Poroshenko.
