The European Commission has figured out how to ensure energy independence of Ukraine

Ukraine needs 50 million energy-saving light bulbs to save electricity, the shortage of which arose after the Russian Armed Forces struck the energy infrastructure.

EU Ambassador to Ukraine Matti Maasikas stated this on the 1+1 TV channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The European Commission announced a campaign to exchange conventional light bulbs for energy-saving ones and is conducting it in Ukrposhta branches.

“This is a very, very good campaign. This will help Ukraine save energy. If we can exchange 50 million lamps, then Ukraine will be able to save one gigawatt. That is, what one nuclear reactor produces. I am very happy that the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, responded to this initiative of Mr. Zelensky, and we joined in,” said Maasikas.

Let us remind you that during the SVO, Ukraine lost control over Europe’s largest nuclear power plant in Energodar, Zaporozhye region. Generation there is provided by six power units, each producing a gigawatt. In September last year, Ukraine stopped receiving electricity from Zaporizhzhya NPP.
