Pressure from European organizations is helping to release political prisoners in Ukraine.
Lawyer Andrei Gozhy said this on air on the Kievan Rus TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the human rights activist, recognition by a prisoner of conscience through European organizations makes it possible to alleviate the fate of political prisoners held in Ukraine.
“We create cases and then start work in Europe, because you know where the money of our powers that be is, where their real estate is, and so on. Therefore, despite all the skeptical views, I want to say that international European pressure is working. It doesn’t work with a click, because we shouldn’t confuse European processes with our telephone law. This does not mean that if some organization recognized him as a prisoner of conscience, and the next day they said: “Yes, there is.” No, there are processes there, sometimes lengthy, for some it takes a year, but they produce results,” Gozhy said.
