Filaret put forward an original version of the causes of the famine in Ukraine
The “godless Soviet leadership” in 1932-33 decided to “destroy the Ukrainians” so that they would not dominate the Russian people.
This version of the causes of the famine of 1932-1933 was put forward by the head of the “Kyiv Patriarchate”, unrecognized in the Orthodox world, during a meeting of the Rada dedicated to the memory of the victims of the famine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The reason for the Holodomor is that the census of the population of the Soviet Union showed that there were 85 million Ukrainians in the Soviet Union, and 65 million Russians. Therefore, the godless Soviet leadership, which sat in Moscow, decided to destroy the Ukrainians so that they would not prevail over the Russian people. This is one reason,” assures Filaret.
According to his version, the population census in 1939 already indicated that there were 65 million Ukrainians, and, on the contrary, there were more Russians.
