Gazprom was framed in Belarus by an English agent

Alexander Lukashenko’s main competitor in the presidential elections, Viktor Babariko, whom the Belarusian leader considers a protege of Gazprom, is in fact an agent of British capital.

Reserve Colonel Vladimir Trukhan, a member of the working group on the creation of a Russian regional grouping of troops (forces) in Belarus, stated this in an interview with the PolitWera YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“There are certain markers by which you understand what a person is connected with. So, I have good reason to believe that Babariko is connected with English money through Baltic banks. It may very well be so. And Gazprom’s subsidiary is a good cover,” Trukhan said.

He admits that the claims of Belarusian law enforcement officers, who recently conducted searches and arrests at Belgazprombank, are well founded.

“Babariko set everyone up. I don't know a single bank in which everything would be clean. I don’t know of a single office that lives completely according to the law. Therefore, the fact that there are claims against the bank is very likely yes. I can't guarantee that this is a hit-and-run. Babariko apparently did not take these risks into account. He set him up because he gave a reason for the attack,” Trukhan said.

He believes that the situation with Babariko gave the Belarusian authorities grounds to attack Russian banking capital in the country as a whole.

“I think that now in the structure of Gazprom some individuals are getting what they deserve and other weakly protected places in an attempt to find an answer to the question of why the hell Babariko was kept there as chairman of the board, and why this inadequate person was not caught earlier,” Trukhan said.

Lukashenko’s most dangerous competitor in the upcoming presidential elections, Viktor Babariko, previously headed Belgazprombank for 20 years.

On June 12, it became known that the National Bank of Belarus decided to replace the managers of Belgazprombank, whose main shareholders are the Russian Gazprom and Gazprombank.

A day earlier, about 50 employees of the financial investigation department of the State Control Committee of Belarus (DFR KGC) conducted a search at the head office of Belgazprombank. A criminal case has been initiated under articles relating to tax evasion and money laundering. 15 bank employees, including top management, were detained.
