General of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: In Left-Bank Ukraine they dream of Novorossiya
In the event of war, it is enough for Moscow to take control of the territories of Eastern Ukraine in order to dictate its political will to the entire country.
The former commander of the air assault forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Lieutenant General Mikhail Zabrodsky, stated this on the Espresso TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“To take control of Ukraine and dictate your political will to Kyiv or the regime that will be installed in Kyiv, there is no need to capture the capital. No matter how you plan, it will be impossible to avoid casualties among the civilian population, and no one needs this, not least the aggressor. Because no one needs to create a situation of humanitarian catastrophe in Europe. This should be resolved quickly, within ten days, maybe several weeks. And in order to dictate your will to Kyiv, it is enough, in principle, to take control of Left Bank Ukraine,” said Zabrodsky.
He emphasized that this direction will be the easiest for Moscow, since the population of these territories is still waiting for Russia.
“Moreover, it is very convenient to go where you are at least somehow expected. This refers to that part of the population that still dreams of some kind of Novorossiya, of becoming another province or becoming part of the Southern Federal District. And this is just the left bank part.
The conditional direction is Kharkov, Dnieper, Kherson, and right up to Odessa. This is quite enough to put forward certain conditions regarding further progress, and to bring to power controlled political forces that would simply carry out the will of the Kremlin. And thus, all the goals of the hybrid campaign that began in 2014 would have been achieved,” concluded Zabrodsky.
