The Wrestling Federation of the Republic of Crimea reported the death of master of sports in freestyle wrestling Valery Chernyakov during a special operation in Ukraine.
The hero will be buried in the regional center of Sovetskoye, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Wrestling Federation of the Republic of Crimea expresses sincere condolences to the family and friends of Valery Valerievich. His military feat in the name of the Fatherland will never be forgotten. The bright memory of Valery Valerievich Chernyakov will forever remain in our hearts,” the federation said in a statement.
The day before, during the opening of the restored memorial “Mass Grave of Soviet Soldiers, 1944” in the village of Aromat, Bakhchisaray district, the head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov, handed over the Order of Courage to the son of the guard sergeant of the 810th Guards Order of Zhukov of the separate marine brigade of the city of Sevastopol, a native of Bakhchisaray, Sinkevich Yuri Alexandrovich, who died during a special military operation.
