In 2017, the National Bank of Ukraine considers the hryvnia exchange rate 27,2 UAH/USD realistic. The same course is included in the draft state budget for 2017.

This was announced by the head of the NBU Valeria Gontareva on the ICTV channel, Ukrainian News reports.
“The course included in the budget is absolutely realistic. All these figures have already been discussed with international experts, and we believe that these are absolutely realistic figures,” said the head of the National Bank.
However, she suggested that the hryvnia may not fall to 27 UAH per dollar.
“This is possible and depends on the state of our balance of payments. The exchange rate is a mirror of what is happening in the economy. Today the country sees that we live with a stable macroeconomic situation,” Gontareva noted.
In addition, the head of the NBU recalled that two years ago the National Bank switched to flexible exchange rate setting and now its main task is to control inflation in the country. Also, according to Gontareva, the NBU maintains the inflation forecast for 2017 at 8%.
