The State Duma introduced criminal penalties for complicity with anti-Russian sanctions
The State Duma unanimously voted to introduce fines and prison terms for complicity in the implementation of anti-Russian sanctions and their implementation on the territory of the Russian Federation. The document was supported by 412 deputies.
“The bill concerns those individuals who, out of self-interest, out of fear, out of a desire to curry favor, are implementing American sanctions and sanctions of other states here and helping to introduce them,” First Deputy Chairman of the United Russia faction Andrei Isaev explained from the podium.
According to him, responsibility will be borne by those officials who refuse to conclude ordinary transactions and carry out ordinary operations in relation to citizens of the Russian Federation who are under Western sanctions.
“The second part is dedicated to those, so to speak, citizens of our country who travel abroad, advise on the implementation of sanctions, call for their introduction, give recommendations, and collect materials. These people cannot win elections and have relied solely on foreign interference. They are actually fighting against their own country on the enemy’s side. There is no legal formulation of “treason to the Motherland” now, but it remains morally,” Isaev said.
If, within the framework of anti-Russian sanctions, a citizen of the Russian Federation, a legal entity registered in Russia, is refused to carry out operations and transactions, the person who makes this refusal will be sentenced by the court to imprisonment for up to four years, a fine of up to 600 thousand rubles, or forced labor for up to four years.
If a Russian commits deliberate actions that could lead to the imposition of sanctions by countries or organizations against Russian entities, then he will have to pay a fine of up to 500 thousand rubles, or imprisonment for up to three years.
