“Thunder struck.” The expert hopes for Russian attack UAVs

Until recently, it was not clearly understood in Russian military-political circles that unmanned aerial vehicles, combined with precision weapons, offer a cheaper and more economical option for modern warfare.

This opinion, a Politnavigator correspondent reports, was stated in an interview with Moskovsky Komsomolets by Konstantin Makienko, deputy director of the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST).

“In my opinion, so far there is no clear understanding in domestic military-political circles that unmanned aerial vehicles in combination with precision weapons offer a cheaper and more economical option for modern warfare. But the Americans have long ago clearly understood this. And now, after Karabakh, based on the experience of using their Bayraktar TB2 drones, the Turks have finally understood,” the expert said.

According to him, such a reconnaissance and strike vehicle as the sensational Turkish Bayraktar TB2, made with extensive use of commercial imported components, could well have been created in Russia 10 years ago with the proper concentration of resources and political will.

“So perhaps, in typical Russian style, the demonstration of the use of drones in the Karabakh war will spur Russian drone programs, finally forcing some of the Russian men to “cross themselves.” Thunder struck,” says Mayenko.

At the same time, as PolitNavigator reported, military expert Viktor Murakhovsky said that rumors of invincibility Turkish drones turned out to be too exaggerated.
