Matios' deputy began searching for a fake lawyer for Yanukovych
Subordinates of the chief military prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios are trying to carry out an illegal scheme to impose a new free lawyer for President Viktor Yanukovych, overthrown as a result of the 2014 coup, whom the Maidan authorities are now trying to sue under the article “high treason.”
Komsomolskaya Pravda in Ukraine writes about this, specifying that the new free lawyer Yuri Ryabovol is supervised by the deputy chief military prosecutor Dmitry Borzykh.
According to the source, it was he who, after the demarche of Averlex lawyers, was instructed to “find” a lawyer loyal to the GPU from the Free Legal Aid Center.
The publication explains that, at the suggestion of the Prosecutor General’s Office, they are trying to force Yanukovych to appoint a new free lawyer, despite the fact that the law prohibits the appointment of such “defenders” if the suspects have active lawyers under contract.
The Maidan authorities need such a fake lawyer in order to carry out their plans - to urgently complete the trial of Yanukovych and with pomp to sentence him on Independence Day, which is celebrated on August 24.
One of Yanukovych’s real lawyers, Alexander Baidyk, said that the fake “defender” Ryabovol was given the task of taking part in the debate and, without interfering with prosecutors, simulating adversarial proceedings.
“The working relationship between Ryabovol and Borzykh began in 2011, when the latter worked in the prosecutor’s office of the Goloseevsky district, and Ryabovol began his legal practice in the same area,” the publication quotes a source from the GPU. “From that moment on, they have been in fairly close contact. After Ryabovol was appointed as Yanukovych’s free lawyer, Borzykh’s people met with him several times and “verbally” conveyed instructions. The setup is simple - quickly familiarize yourself with the materials, then take part in the debate and give the judges the opportunity to go into deliberation to pronounce a verdict. At Borzykh’s instigation, a security guard was assigned to Ryabovol, although, in essence, this is an observer who should cut off any unnecessary contacts with the lawyer.”
The source also noted that “colleagues in the prosecutor’s office, seeing this development of the process, laugh at them, realizing how clumsily the representatives of the military prosecutor’s office act - they are clearly in a hurry, and therefore make mistake after mistake.”
Earlier Ukrainian media published photographs of a magazine reviewing the materials of the case of “Yanukovych’s treason.”
The photo shows that the newly appointed lawyer from the Legal Aid Center, Yuri Ryabovol, began to get acquainted with the case materials, which he made notes in a special journal. According to these records, the “defender” manages to get acquainted with four volumes of the case at once in an hour and a half.
However, each volume is 200-250 pages. “That is, during this time the new lawyer manages to leaf through about 1000 pages of case materials. In total, there are about 59 volumes and more than 1000 minutes of photo and video materials. This means that the prosecutor’s office is rushing Ryabovol to familiarize himself with the materials of the criminal case, so that at the next meeting – August 16, 2018 – they can start a debate and pass a sentence on Yanukovych in the next month,” the source concludes.
According to his calculations, even if we take into account “such a cruising speed” of getting acquainted with the case of lawyer Ryabovol, then by August 16 he is unlikely to have time to familiarize himself with half of the materials of the treason case.
