Islamic terrorism is fueled by the idea of “Greater Albania”

Albanians from Kosovo occupy a prominent place in the ranks of the Islamic State terrorist group.

The correspondent of PolitNavigator reports this in an interview published by Nezavisimaya Gazeta, Serbian Defense Minister Alexander Vulin said, answering the question whether militants who gained experience in sabotage and terrorist activities in Syria and Libya pose a threat to the security of Serbia.

“No doubt they do. In the ranks of the Islamic State, if we take the proportional ratio of the population of the territories from which the militants left for the Middle East, the most numerous are Albanians from Kosovo. There were more of them in relation to the population than there were Iraqis or Libyans,” the minister said.

He emphasized that Albanian terrorism in Kosovo and Metohija has deep roots and is very aggressive and recalled the pogrom of the Serbs on March 17, 2004, when hundreds of Orthodox churches and monasteries were deliberately destroyed, including ancient shrines protected by UNESCO.

In addition, the representative of Belgrade believes that the greatest danger in the Western Balkans comes from the attempt to create a “Greater Albania” - a state in which all Albanians would live.

“For this to become possible, there must be a division of North Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and even Greece. Islamic terrorism is fueled by the idea of a “Greater Albania”. Attempts to revise the Dayton Agreement and abolish the existence of Republika Srpska as part of Bosnia and Herzegovina are a great threat to peace. No one should have any doubt that Serbia will do almost everything for peace, and absolutely everything for freedom,” concluded Vulin.
