The story of military cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey is turning into nothing
Despite loud announcements about joint developments between Ukraine and Turkey in the field of weapons, the Turks are in no hurry to deploy production facilities in Ukraine and are sabotaging already concluded agreements.
Military expert Taras Chmut stated this on air on the Skrypin Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He emphasized that information regarding the production of Turkish attack drones “Bayraktar” in Ukraine could turn out to be the same as the construction of a plant for the assembly of Turkish communications equipment for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“So far the story is not very clear. Everything is somehow complicated for us. The Turks seem to be very loyal and very friendly - they are ready for anything: come on, produce, buy, we’ll do everything, we’ll change everything, they’ll meet you halfway. But there is no final production of at least something.
The agreement on Aselsan - Turkish VHF communications equipment for ground forces and air forces was signed several years ago, it also provided for deployment, one of the reasons for choosing the Turks was stated as the fact that the Turks would localize production in our country. The 20th year is already ending, there is no plant, and what’s more, there won’t be one.
The fact that they were demonstrating some kind of assembly line, where four guys sit and twist something with screwdrivers, is not a factory, not a line - it’s just four guys twisting something. The same situation is now happening in other areas of cooperation where they have chosen, in armored vehicles too - at first they wanted one thing from us, then they don’t buy it. For aviation, for drones, for our engines for their drones.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the Turks play with us and then deliver their own product, which will be partially based on solutions and technologies borrowed from us, and we will simply be “concerned.” There is no final result, firstly, and secondly, the Turks keep everything to themselves as much as possible. They are now at the stage of development when they can be self-sufficient in virtually most types of weapons,” Chmut said.
Earlier, PolitNavigator reported that the Ukrainian army was unable to master complex systems.
In this case, Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Andrey Sibiga said that Ukraine and Turkey have allegedly formed a military-industrial alliance that will improve the defense capabilities of both countries.
