Today, Ukraine is further from the dream of providing a visa-free regime with the EU than last year, Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes in an article dedicated to the next postponement of the consideration of the issue of visa-free travel with Ukraine, as stated by European Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström after a meeting of the Atlantic Council in Washington .

“At the same time, in Kyiv, due to the cautious position of Europe, many are noticeably losing their nerves,” the publication notes. – A lot of noise was caused by the scandalous statement of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Irina Gerashchenko, who believes that Europe “should give us a visa-free regime today, now, without postponing it until tomorrow and without trying to find some other migration risks.”

The newspaper also recalls that in April the European Commission approved the implementation by Kiev and Tbilisi of the conditions for obtaining a visa-free regime.

“However, due to the migration crisis, Paris and Berlin linked the implementation of this decision in practice with the development of a mechanism for the immediate suspension of the visa-free regime, and, which caused particular indignation in Kiev, they placed Ukraine in the same package with Georgia, Turkey, and Kosovo,” RG points out. " “At the same time, today the country is further from its dream than, for example, in 2015.” Thus, Ukraine dropped out of the new EU foreign policy strategy presented by Federica Mogherini. As a result, the Ukrainian media report a sharp decrease in the number of European visas issued to Ukrainians, stricter requirements for obtaining them, and even an unspoken ban on entry into the Schengen zone for participants of the “anti-terrorist operation” in Donbass.”
