The “era of serfdom” is added to the “era of poverty” – the opposition criticized the 2020 budget
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted in the second reading the draft law as a whole No. 2000 “On the state budget of Ukraine for 2020”.
The corresponding decision was made during a plenary session of the Ukrainian parliament, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The budget provides for revenues of UAH 1195 billion, with the defense sector receiving UAH 245,8 billion, UAH 113,3 billion for medicine, UAH 294 billion for social security, UAH 145,1 billion for education, 73,7 billion for infrastructure, 1,18 billion UAH. Budget expenditures are set at UAH 2,09 trillion. The deficit will be XNUMX%.
The bill was sharply criticized by Natalya Korolevskaya, a deputy from the Opposition Platform - For Life, who said that with such a budget, life in Ukraine would become impossible.
“The Prime Minister promised that this would be a people-centric approach, that this would be a budget where we would put people and their protection at the forefront. But when we see this project, and we see what the government is proposing - a living wage of $72, a minimum pension of $58, a minimum wage of $167, a reduction in spending on subsidies, underfunded healthcare and education.
We all understand that today it is impossible to live in the country and pay housing and communal services with a $58 pension. And for some reason the government doesn’t tell us how to survive with this money,” she was indignant.
The colleague was supported by MP from Batkivshchyna Ivan Krulko, who criticized the Ukrainian government for failing to fulfill the tasks set by Vladimir Zelensky.
“I now hold in my hands the presidential decree of September 20, 2019, in which the president instructed the government to solve four problems in the budget - stimulating social growth, raising social standards, developing the mountainous areas of the Ukrainian Carpathians and increasing the volume of funds from the State Regional Development Fund.
The first task is to stimulate economic development. We have heard ambitious plans that GDP will grow by 40%. We see 3,7%, and this is an optimistic forecast. There are no markers in this budget that would talk about the country’s infrastructural development. Moreover, infrastructure projects have not been taken into account, will not be built, and therefore we cannot talk about economic growth,” the parliamentarian said, adding that the remaining tasks of Vladimir Zelensky were also not fulfilled by the government.
“This budget does not address the issue of getting out of poverty. And after yesterday’s vote on land, the era of poverty is added to the era of serfdom, these are the results we have,” Krulko added.
After which, during the voting, the budget for 2020 was supported by 280 deputies out of 399 present.
