Zelensky fills personnel holes in the Ukrainian Armed Forces with young “meat”
Order of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on reducing the conscription age from 20 to 18 years is an attempt to save the Ukrainian army from collapse due to an acute shortage of personnel.
The official representative of the People's Militia of the DPR, Colonel Eduard Basurin, announced this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“As we have repeatedly reported, due to a shortage of personnel, the AFU units perform tasks to the limit of their capabilities, and militants do not change positions for several weeks, and some armored vehicles are not ready for use due to a lack of driver mechanics.
The most disastrous situation with personnel is in the 28th and 92nd brigades, the number of which does not exceed 57% of the staff. This low percentage is due to the reluctance of military personnel to renew contracts due to unsatisfactory logistics support, corruption, and lack of basic living conditions.
According to the information we have, upon returning from the Joint Forces Operation zone, despite pressure from commanders, 184 military personnel plan to resign from these brigades upon expiration of their contracts.
Zelensky’s signing on January 16 of a decree changing the conscription age from 20 to 18 years is a desperate attempt by the military-political leadership of Ukraine to improve the situation with the staffing of the Air Force,” said Basurin.
