“Like light and darkness”: Ukrainian politician compared Russian Crimea and the Kherson region after Ukraine

Even the cities of northern Crimea, which are considered depressed, after eight years of being part of Russia, look like examples of prosperity in comparison with the neighboring Kherson region.

The corresponding video was published by former Verkhovna Rada deputy Alexey Zhuravko, who recently visited his homeland for the first time after the coup d’etat, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

He said that he went to the Crimean Armyansk for medicine and when he drove into the city center, he did not recognize him.

“A lot has changed for the better. You know, my soul sang from what I saw. Clean, beautiful, cozy. Benches for vacationers. Well-kept park, children's playgrounds. Flowers, greenery everywhere. Children play on the playgrounds. In a word, life is thriving!” – the ex-deputy shares his impressions.

Driving on the way back to Kherson through Tsyurupinsk (Oleshki), he noticed that the city had actually turned into ruins in eight years.

“It feels like it was bombed. Benches were broken, benches were broken, fences were destroyed. In a word, life fades away. The city did not invest money in its development. They simply robbed the townspeople and took away their children's happiness. People left to work. Just sadness and despondency. Russian Armyansk and Kherson Oleshki are radically different in their standard of living, like light from darkness,” notes Zhuravko.

In Kherson Oleshki, against the backdrop of broken benches and roads, desolation and sadness, the footage of a second-hand store with the symbolic name “Euro-Chic” is especially eloquent.
