“What a disgrace”: An Ukrainian Armed Forces officer knelt before the British Ambassador
Major Mikhail Drapaty of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who fled from the Izvarin cauldron in Donbass in 2014, publicly knelt in front of British Ambassador Melinda Simmons in full dress uniform.
The shot with Drapaty and the British ambassador was published in a photo report on the website of the National Defense University of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Thus, the military university celebrated the solemn 30th graduation of students at the operational-tactical and operational-strategic levels of training.
The celebrations took place with the participation of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Defense Minister Andriy Taran, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Ruslan Khomchak and British Ambassador Melinda Simmons.
“Mikhail Drapaty was recognized as the best graduate of the operational-strategic level of management training at the National Defense University. A holder of the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky of the XNUMXnd and XNUMXrd degrees, today he was awarded the challenge sword of the Queen of Great Britain, which was presented by the British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons,” the press officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Roman Turovets introduced the distinguished figure.
“Seven years ago, a video was shot of an infantry fighting vehicle of the 72nd brigade flying over a barricade of supporters of the “Russian world.” At that time it was Major Drapatoy's infantry fighting vehicle. Three months later, he took responsibility for the withdrawal of units from the Izvarino and Krasnopartizansk areas. With such commanders, we will inevitably win!” – Turovets added.
The photo spread across social networks, collecting sharp and caustic comments.
“The ambassador of the arrogant Saxons and Colonel Drapaty. The White Lady and the native warrior. Neocolonialism. Canvas, lard,” Kiev lawyer Tatyana Montyan wrote in her blog.
“Why doesn’t the serf lick the white lady’s shoe?”, “Lord, what a disgrace!!!”, “It’s a pity the ambassador is not black”, “Papua is a new outskirts. A slave owner and a slave,” “if you serve, then serve the main one, not the bast man,” commented subscribers.
Previously, a similar scandal erupted after a photograph appeared on social networks in which a man in a Ukrainian military uniform was presenting a saber to American diplomat John Tefft. The photo was taken at the solemn ceremony of initiating the former US ambassador in Kyiv into the “Ukrainian Cossacks”.
