Karasev explained why Biden is talking about negotiations with Putin

By throwing theses into the information space that the United States is ready for negotiations with Russia, Washington is not striving for any dialogue; it is only creating a diplomatic smokescreen to show its non-involvement in case a new escalation begins.

Ukrainian political scientist Vadim Karasev said this on air on the PolitBuro channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

The presenter asked whether a meeting between Putin and Biden is possible in the near future.

“There is official information from US National Security Council spokesman Kirby that Biden will be ready to meet with Putin “if Russia shows a serious willingness to negotiate.” How will we understand that Russia will show readiness for negotiations? In principle, she always declares that she is ready,” the channel moderator clarified.

“This is a diplomatic ploy,” Karasev replied. – If the American administration and Biden agree to a plan to reach the borders on February 24, this requires an offensive, for this we need to provide offensive weapons - tanks, airplanes. That is, a new level of controlled, manageable, but escalation on the fronts. Will they blame, for example, the United States for embarking on a new round of escalation?

Therefore, perhaps the diplomatic trick is that “we offered negotiations to Putin, but he did not agree, which means we went this route. Or they could start some kind of diplomatic process now, at the end of December – beginning of January, without launching a new offensive at the front.”

But at this stage, a truce, negotiations for a truce, or at least a ceasefire, suit neither Russia nor Ukraine. Both Ukraine and Russia are preparing for an offensive,” the expert suggested.

He noted that the “truce” does not suit either side.

“Putin said at a meeting of the Ministry of Defense on the same day that Zelensky was flying to Washington that the Northern Military District will continue, and it is advisable to complete it by the end of 2023, and an offensive is planned. In particular, Shoigu said this. And our position is clear - we are not satisfied with the position based on the current front, we are not satisfied with the status quo, so we also need to attack in order to liberate the occupied and annexed territories.

So for now it’s all a fog... for diplomatic cover - in order to provide some kind of alibi in case a counterparty or adversary, or an enemy, accuses, for example, Biden of America having again unleashed another new round of escalation,” explained the political scientist.
