If Russia decides to carry out an operation in the Kherson region and take control of the North Crimean Canal, Moscow will act with lightning speed, and the process of reunification with the lands of historical Novorossiya seized by Ukrainian separatists will take a maximum of three days.
Ukrainian military expert Mikhail Samus stated this on air on the Public Crimea TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, Ukraine has no chance to resist this if retaliatory actions are not taken within a matter of minutes.
“In fact, a modern military conflict will be different from what we saw even in 14. I mean that Russia will act in a completely different way. And just the characteristics of the conflict or the operation that Russia will conduct against Ukraine in the south and east, that is, in the southern strategic direction for Russia, it will actually be lightning fast. This will be a blitzkrieg that will last, perhaps, one, two or three days maximum.
Therefore, in principle, understaffing of units in all Armed Forces will not affect how the Ukrainian army, navy, aviation, and so on will react. The main thing is consistency. If the Ukrainian army can now present itself and act as a reconnaissance-strike complex, that is, instantly identify a threat, quickly determine the coordinates of targets, instantly transmit commands, make decisions and react in a few minutes, then we have a chance to counteract. If we think in terms of the Second World War, the Cold War, when there is a month for mobilization and so on, then our chances in confrontation are insignificant,” Samus said.
