The Slavuta city district court found a Kherson resident guilty of stealing more than 750 thousand hryvnia. A man stole a bag with money from a family from the Donetsk region who lived in a social shelter in the city of Slavuta, Khmelnitsky region, thereby depriving them of all their savings.
This was reported by the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
“During the public accusation of the Shepetivka District Prosecutor’s Office, the court found guilty a repeatedly convicted resident of the city of Kherson of stealing more than 750 thousand UAH, committed repeatedly, under martial law (Part 5 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). By the decision of the Slavuta City District Court, he was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months of imprisonment with confiscation of all property,” the statement says.
Prosecutors proved in court that in April 2022, the man settled for the night in a social shelter in the city of Slavuta, where internally displaced persons spent the night. There he stole a bag with the savings of a family from the Donetsk region.
The attacker was detained at a checkpoint in the village of Letichev when he tried to leave the region. The stolen funds were confiscated from him and returned to the owners.
