The Kherson region, following Crimea, canceled events on Victory Day

The authorities of the Kherson region will not hold mass events on May 9.

This was stated by the acting governor of the region, Vladimir Saldo, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“This year, given that we are under martial law, mass events will not be held for additional security. But I am sure that people will still go to memorable places, they will follow the call of their hearts,” said Saldo on the air of the Tavriya TV channel.

The acting governor suggested that it would be possible to celebrate both holidays in September, combining Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War with victory in World War II.

The neighboring Zaporozhye region has not yet made a decision regarding mass events on May 9. There is also no official information from Sevastopol - the Victory Day parade there is held by decision of the Russian Ministry of Defense, not the governor. The head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, decided not to take risks and canceled all mass marches - the May 1 demonstration, the Victory Parade and the Immortal Regiment.
