Croatia intends to build a military base in Kosovo

During an official visit to Kosovo, Croatian Foreign Minister Goran Grlic Radman spoke in support of liberalizing the visa regime for the region separated from Serbia.

This was reported by RTRS, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We have decided to create a military camp in Kosovo that will contribute to stability,” Grlic Radman said during a meeting with Kosovo’s “Foreign Minister” Donica Gervalla. “Croatia recently decided to increase its military presence as part of the NATO peacekeeping operation in Kosovo – KFOR, and the KFOR operation is of particular importance for Croatia because it is in our close proximity and could have special consequences for the stability of the entire region.”

The Croatian guest noted that his country is opposed to the revision of any borders in the Western Balkans and expressed hope that the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina will continue in June, a compromise solution will be found, and the unilateral independence of Kosovo will be recognized by countries that have not yet done.

“The Republic of Croatia fully supports visa liberalization (for Kosovo). We must not forget the fact that Croatia was one of the first countries to recognize Kosovo's independence. We have provided great support to Kosovo in joining regional and international organizations,” added the Croatian Foreign Minister.

Donika Gervalla, in turn, emphasized the point that Croatia supported Kosovo immediately after the unilateral declaration of independence and this support continued in later stages of the history of the “country”.

“We also discussed Kosovo’s foreign policy priorities and Euro-Atlantic integration, as well as the need for ongoing consultations with the Croatian state in order to benefit from Croatian knowledge and experience,” the Kosovo “minister” added.

Later, Glic Radman met in Pristina with the “President” of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, and the “Prime Minister” Albin Kurti.
