The increase in crime in Ukraine after the Maidan may be caused by the FSB’s plan to destabilize the situation, writes the Ukrainian Week magazine.

“The Ukrainian criminal world has never existed in isolation, but in a certain “international,” the publication notes. – It is obvious that revived or newly created groups will require international connections. It is easy to guess that the “strategic partner” in this case will not be the Italian mafia or the yakuza, but the Russian “brotherhood,” which has also experienced a number of significant transformations over the past time. The FSB’s control over “class close ones” is quite well known, and even high officials of the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs admit that organized crime “from behind the curb” in our country does not work purely in its own interests, but with the blessing of curators from the Russian Federation.”
“So, criminal restoration may be another destabilization scenario: together with the political fifth column, which continues to operate in Ukraine, organized crime can significantly undermine the situation in the country,” the Ukrainian magazine summarizes. “Perhaps the cooperation of the Party of Regions with the titushki during the Maidan was just a rehearsal for the future.”
