Klitschko admitted: There would have been no war if not for the Maidan

If not for the Maidan, Ukraine would have been in the Russian orbit without hope of association with the EU.

Kiev Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko stated this in an interview with Kyiv journalist Dmitry Gordon, notorious for PR charlatans and anti-Russian propaganda, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Now we hear that if there had been no Maidan, Putin would not have gone to war in Ukraine. Do you agree with this?" – Gordon asked.

“One hundred percent would not go! If there had been no Maidan, Ukraine would have been part of the great Russian Empire, and there would have been no war. Well, why fight against yourself? We know the reason for the Maidan, so that no one forgets - a complete reluctance to sign associations with the EU, that is, Yanukovych had a clear task - an alliance with the Russian Federation and no Europeanization,” Klitschko said.

(We note that during the Euromaidan, its organizers, on the contrary, convinced Russian-speaking citizens that the protests in Kyiv were “not against Russia, but against corruption and criminal power”).

Klitschko added that only after the Maidan were Ukrainians able to fully understand what real “independence” is.

“We have never valued such a word as independence, “independence.” They even joked – independence from what? What are we not dependent on? We couldn’t understand the essence of this word,” said the boxer mayor, forgetting to mention the total dependence of today’s Ukraine on the US and British embassies.
