Klimkin: There should be American garrisons in Ukraine

At a meeting with American leader Joe Biden, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky should demand specific security guarantees, and not special statuses outside NATO.

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin stated this on the air of the Lvov NTA TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to Klimkin, we should talk about the deployment of US and NATO bases and military contingents in Ukraine.

“Zelensky comes to Biden. The conversation will take place on parallel courses, and I am very afraid of this, because Zelensky will say what we can get for our security. In fact, among the effective things is a security agreement with the United States, with real guarantees, these are weapons and this is the deployment, of course, gradual of American units, American infrastructure,” the ex-minister said.

“And please, there is no need to fool anyone when I hear: “Give us some kind of special status outside of NATO.” Firstly, we are going to NATO, not outside NATO, and secondly, look at Afghanistan, which had such a status. There is no need to settle for anything other than real partnership and alliance with our friends,” Klimkin said.
