The new S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile system has taken up duty in Dzhankoy, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.
He was transported to his permanent deployment point by rail. Today it was demonstrated to Crimean journalists.
The Dzhankoy S-400 complex became the fourth on the Crimean Peninsula. The first division began combat duty in Feodosia in January 2017. A year later - in January 2018 - the second complex appeared in Sevastopol. In September 2018, the S-400 began duty in Yevpatoria.
“Despite the complex’s long range, in any case, Crimea is a heterogeneous landscape. In any case, it is impossible to get by with just one complex. It is necessary to deploy such systems in several places. Cover from different directions, create good visibility for radar equipment,” Oleg Yuryevich Ponomarenko, a military expert from the center of strategic conjuncture, explained the need to deploy the fourth complex on Sputnik radio.
He did not rule out that Crimea could be attacked by strategic missiles from the territory of Ukraine.
“These measures will increase the security of the peninsula, taking into account the specifics of Crimea, the ongoing conflict situation, the possibility of using not only aircraft weapons, but also operational-strategic missiles that can be launched from the territory of Ukraine,” Ponomarenko said.
