The end of the “agrarian superpower”: Russia has pushed Ukraine aside in the world wheat market

Ukraine has lost its leadership to Russia in the world wheat market. Deputy Andrey Kit stated this from the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to him, due to high prices for mineral fertilizers, agricultural products grown in Ukraine cannot withstand competition.

“At the moment, mineral fertilizers are 30% more expensive in Ukraine than in any other country in the world. This means that 40% of the cost of agricultural products, which is formed by mineral fertilizers, affects the cost of our villagers and farmers. This means that our products become uncompetitive in the foreign market.

I would like to bring to your attention that Ukraine has ceased to be the winner and price determiner in the global sale of wheat on the market. Do you know who got ahead of us? Russia! Congratulations on this!

The result of this is not just the absence of a policy in the executive branch, but the complete inactivity of the Antimonopoly Committee, which does not regulate the mineral fertilizer market at all.

I would like to congratulate you on one more thing - Belarus announced that Grodnoazot will build another plant on Belarusian territory especially for Ukraine in order to supply the Ukrainian market, which is the most interesting in the world for the sale of nitrogen fertilizers. Let me remind you that just a few years ago Ukraine was one of the largest exporters of mineral fertilizers in the world,” Keith laments.
