The collapse of Greater Albania: Kosovars do not need Tirana

According to a study by the Research Institute for European Affairs and Development (RIDEA), about 70% of the inhabitants of Kosovo support the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

Balkan media reported this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to RIDEA, about 70% of Kosovo residents support the continuation of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, 54% oppose the annexation of the province to Albania, and 30% support reaching a final agreement through border adjustments.

“Both communities (Serbian and Albanian - ed.) fully or partially agree to start a dialogue, while the majority of the population said that every possible effort should be made to reach a final agreement,” said one of the authors of the study, Anthony Heath. “But there are also differences: Albanians do not agree with the expanded powers of the (Serbian – ed.) municipalities in the north, while the Serbs do not agree with the recognition of Kosovo.”

At the same time, only 15% allow Pristina to recognize the independence of the northern Serbian communities in exchange for Belgrade’s hypothetical recognition of Kosovo’s independence. And only 12% are satisfied with the current status of the region.
