Audio recordings of a 2014 press conference in Donetsk have emerged, at which Vladimir Zelensky praised the Donbass militias, supported the Russian language and assured that he was not worthy of becoming president.
He published the corresponding audio recordings in his Telegram- channel historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov, reports the PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Good people uploaded the audio of Zelensky’s press conference in April 2014 in Donetsk. I will give three fragments from there in turn. So that everyone can hear and be convinced that newspaper articles on this matter are not fake,” he wrote.
In the first audio recording, Zelensky is told how Donbass militias captured Ukrainian tanks.
“Beautiful guys, they captured the tanks (laughs). Why did they do this? Were they just defending themselves? Well done, well done,” said the future president.
After which Vladimir Zelensky stated that he wants everyone to speak Russian.
“You understand that we cannot be against the Russian people, because they are one and the same people,” he added.
Then, answering a journalist’s question that Vladimir Zelensky’s popularity was higher than all the presidential candidates of that time combined, the future head of state assured that he was not going to lead Ukraine.
“I’m not one of those comrades who say: “Well, if you ask me, I’ll go into politics.” I do not believe that I am worthy of this honor, nor do I believe that I am wise enough to hold such a position. I think that this country deserves a serious candidacy,” Zelensky concluded.
