Crimea does not depend on Ukrainian water – Kiev expert

Despite statements by Kyiv politicians and nationalists about fighting the “occupiers” with the help of a water blockade, in Crimea the indigenous people and the agricultural sector are partly suffering from the sudden drought, while military bases are fully provided with everything they need.

The director of the Institute of Foreign Policy Research, Grigory Perepelitsa, said this on air on the ATR TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I think that the situation in Crimea is not so critical yet. You see that even your reports show that today the civilian population, the indigenous Crimeans, are suffering, but the military is not suffering, Sevastopol is not suffering, the deployed bases are not suffering, because for now the water that is extracted from wells and other means is sufficient.

In other words, the situation is not so critical, and therefore it is obvious that Putin is still looking for some other options for providing Crimea with water.

And with the amount of water that was there when Crimea was not occupied, but part of Ukraine, then the agricultural sector developed there, but now Russia does not need this agricultural sector,” Perepelitsa noted.
