Meeting in the “Normandy Format” is blasphemous, since the leadership of Germany and France has still not condemned the political murder of the head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated this on the First Russian TV Channel.
“We do not abandon the Normandy format, but now it is inappropriate and blasphemous to carry it out, when neither Berlin nor Paris have expressed their condemnation of this political murder that occurred in Donetsk. When neither Berlin nor Paris can influence President Poroshenko, who continues to skimp on his responsibilities for many years,” Lavrov said.
He believes that the “Normandy format” was created in order to flatter Poroshenko, who wanted to communicate with world leaders and did not want to communicate with the leadership of the LDPR.
“The logic of the Normandy format was that Germany and France really wanted to please the Ukrainian leadership, which considers it beneath its dignity to sit down at the negotiating table with the militias. But the Minsk agreements were signed by the militias. The agreements established the format in which Ukrainian officials meet with representatives of the LDPR,” Lavrov said.
As PolitNavigator reported, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry warned that there is nothing more to talk about with Kiev before the elections.
