Lebedev, who called the Motherland monument “ugly,” received a medal
Russian designer Artemy Lebedev, known for his outrageous statements, was awarded the medal "For Services to the Fatherland" - this is how the state appreciated his efforts "in the formation and development of the Russian segment" of the Internet.
The corresponding decree was published on the website of the President of the Russian Federation. However, this decision raised eyebrows among many - just a few days ago, Lebedev found himself at the center of a scandal after he called the Motherland monument in Volgograd “ugly” in his video blog.
Liberal publicist Kirill Shulika does not hide his gloating. “Putin awarded the award to Tema Lebedev three days after he called the Motherland ugly on Mamayev Kurgan. But the adherents of the “grandfathers fought” sect will remain silent, because, unlike the grandfathers, they are idiots and assholes, groveling before the high authorities,” Shulika said.
Sociologist Igor Eidman, known for his opposition views, called Lebedev “a typical and even hereditary representative of the corrupt Russian pseudo-intelligentsia.”
“Artemy Lebedev received a medal on his chest from Putin for his faithful service. Good doggie. Follows the owner's commands accurately. Barks at whoever needs it. And on the command “no!” - is silent. They will say “to your feet!” - rushes with puppy-like enthusiasm. He will receive the bone of the “state order” and let’s lick the owner’s hand, as if there is nothing sweeter than it,” Eidman said on his Facebook.
Lebedev is widely known for his works. He is the author of the design of Yandex, websites of state-owned companies, news publications, etc.
