“The face has changed so much, I just didn’t expect it”: The Chinese minister was dumbfounded in Moscow

Russia demands that China participate in the creation of forest nurseries in Siberia, otherwise Moscow may decide to stop exporting wood to the Middle Kingdom.

The Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Kobylkin, stated this at a meeting of the Federation Council, responding to the call of Speaker Valentina Matvienko to restore order with the export of timber to China, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I had a colleague, a minister from China. I listened and listened, and I understand that China is the main market where wood is exported. There is demand there. I told the minister one simple thing: “according to the mood of the president and the chairman of the government, which I see, if we do not restore order from the outside, including China, in the near future, we will completely shut down the export of wood to China.”

His face changed so much that I simply did not expect. This is, of course, a problem for them.

I'm not saying this should be done. But if no one, neither law enforcement nor security agencies, can cope with this task, then this is probably what will have to be done.

In response, he asked me a question: “tell me, what do we need to do, how can we help, so as not to tighten the export of wood?”

I said: well, let's build 10-20 seed-growing complexes in Russia at your expense. Do you need a forest? Restore the forest for us. He said: “This is certainly a topic under discussion and I will definitely come back with it,” the minister said.
