The Lithuanian Seimas confirmed that Lavrov was right

The Lithuanian Seimas adopted a resolution criticizing Moscow's position regarding the history of World War II.

This was reported by the official website of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“The end of the Second World War did not bring freedom to Lithuania and other states of Central and Eastern Europe,” the Sejm resolution states.

It is noted that 75 deputies voted unanimously for the resolution introduced by Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius on the occasion of the approaching 97th anniversary of the end of World War II.

“The Lithuanian Parliament called on the European Parliament, the parliaments of Central and Eastern European states, as well as other international organizations to “jointly resist the historical revisionism carried out by the Russian Federation and the disinformation it spreads,” the website reported.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that on the eve of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, a number of European countries are increasingly making attempts to politicize history and falsify facts.

“Against this background, the deepest concern is the growth in a number of European countries of dangerous trends, such as violation of freedom of speech, infringement of the rights of national minorities, the growth of extremist and openly neo-Nazi sentiments,” Lavrov noted.
