Lutsenko decided to let off steam - political scientist
By announcing his resignation, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko wants to divert attention from the case of Maidan activist Ekaterina Handzyuk, died after the attack ex-ATO fighters.
Kiev political scientist Kost Bondarenko stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“As it became known, people close to the Petro Poroshenko Bloc were involved in this case. Therefore, now some spectacular steps are needed to divert attention. Lutsenko’s statements are such a step,” the expert said.
At the same time, it is not a fact, says the political scientist, that Lutsenko will actually resign.
“His statement alone is not enough for this. We also need a parliamentary decision, we need to get 226 votes. Until the decision of Parliament, he will remain in his post and perform his duties. Let's see how everything develops, whether a resignation letter will actually be submitted and if so, whether the Verkhovna Rada will support it. Therefore, now this statement is only intended to release the steam that has accumulated around the Handzyuk case,” Bondarenko believes.
Let us remind you that today Lutsenko is in the Verkhovna Rada stated that he had submitted his resignation to the president.
