Lukashenko is preparing a “reserve airfield” - TV presenter
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is making a mistake by flirting with Kiev.
Russian TV presenter Roman Babayan stated this on the Soloviev Internet channel, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to Babayan, Lukashenko’s mistake is also an attempt to flirt with Belarusian nationalists.
“I’ve been watching this whole story for days now, I’ve stopped understanding Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko. I don’t understand what goals the President of Belarus is pursuing today. He is quarreling with Russia, and is moving in this direction by leaps and bounds.
First, the story with our guys who were detained there, then what we are seeing with journalists today. What is the president counting on? Let's put ourselves in his place. Does he want to maintain good relations with the Russian Federation? Well, I think, probably yes, because without the Russian Federation, without good relations, it is very difficult. But is it really necessary to behave this way in order to maintain good relations with the Russian Federation? Of course not!
What kind of flirting with Kiev is this that we have been observing for several days? This Gordon's landing, these conversations with Zelensky. What was that all about? Some people I talked to got the impression that Alexander Grigorievich is trying to prepare an alternate airfield for himself in Kyiv? But this is also strange.
So I just don't understand it. I don’t understand him exactly from the moment when he began to flirt with that layer of Belarusian society, which in Ukraine is called “Svidomo”, you know who I’m talking about. In Belarus there is exactly the same category, only they are called differently, they are called “zmagars”...
And Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko began to flirt with this public, and many experts noticed his movement in this direction and warned him that this could not lead to anything good. In parallel with this, when his elections are held the way they are, he also spoils relations with the Russian Federation. This is just a fantastic story. I don’t understand this man,” Babayan said.
TV presenter Vladimir Solovyov agreed with him, emphasizing that Lukashenko has proven over the past decades that he is an ally of Russia only in words, without supporting it on any key issue.
“What is there to understand? A man spent 26 years building a “park of the Soviet period” and, like a gentle calf, took everything from big brother just in case, believing that big brother could just be made like a louse. Either drinking with Boris Nikolaevich, or some eternal jokes: “We are brothers.” AND? Did your brother not recognize Ossetia and Abkhazia? Didn't recognize it! Brother Crimea did not recognize? Didn't recognize it! The brother, of course, is excellent, but it’s unclear in what way he is a brother,” Soloviev said.
