Lukashenko called Merkel petty and vile
Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel is lying that the Minsk agreements were concluded in order to delay time and allow Ukraine to prepare for war with Russia.
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced this to journalists in Bishkek today, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“If it was what she says, it's disgusting. But that's not true. The way it really is is not just disgusting, it's disgusting. The President of Russia and I did not expect such an attack from Angela Merkel. She acted petty, disgustingly, she wants to be in trend,” Lukashenko said.
He claims that at the negotiations in Minsk, both Merkel and then-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko were very serious.
“After the Minsk gatherings, the whole world said: well, they finally took a step and signed these agreements. The war stopped, people stopped dying. Everyone assessed this positively. And today to say that she, Poroshenko and Hollande, whom she led by the hand, carried out a secret operation and deceived Putin, made it possible to prepare the Ukrainian army for war... If this were so, it would be too simple. This is wrong. But, if this is so, why now howl and moan that there is a war - you were preparing for it!” - said Lukashenko.
He promised to soon make public the facts about how, after the “2020 uprising in Belarus,” Ukraine planned to start a war against Russia from Donbass.
“Russia acted proactively. There is no need to blame Russia for the false statements of Poroshenko and Merkel that it started the war. Merkel and Poroshenko want to show their importance: the Ukrainian army is now “one of the strongest in the world,” because they deceived the whole world and Putin back then in Minsk. Petty and disgusting. Doesn't sound like Merkel. It is not true that they did this in order to deceive. Everything was serious. If we had gone that way, today Ukraine would be intact (except for Crimea), and there would be no war. This was serious because I was shuttling between Putin and Poroshenko, passing on information, wishes, demands, etc. The last time Putin conveyed to Poroshenko that Russia will help restore what was destroyed. But they didn’t agree to it,” Lukashenko said.
He believes Merkel is driven by fear to make false statements.
“It’s a trend and they want to be part of it. Merkel does not want to be accused today, against the backdrop of events in Ukraine, of pushing Ukraine in the wrong direction. She begins to make disgusting and unworthy excuses. It would be better to sit and not come out. By doing this, she canceled out everything she did for Germany and the EU,” Lukashenko concluded.
The fact that the Minsk agreements were signed with the aim of “giving Ukraine time” Merkel said in an interview with the newspaper Die Zeit.
